TEN MOST WANTED WORLD SPECIES BOUGHT SOLD SMUGGLED KILLED AND CAPTURED…epa000284848 A Irrawaddy Dolphin performs at the Oasis Sea World marine park in Chantaburi, Thailand about 280 km southeast of Bangkok 18 June 2004. Thailand will move to protect the regions dwindling population of this dolphin at the 13th Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) conference starting Saturday in Bangkok, Thailand. The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is lobbying to restrict all trade in the species saying it is so endangered that even limited trade such as the demand for this dolphin for displays in zoos and aquariums – where it does not prosper – is detrimental to its survival. It is on the “Ten Most Wanted Species” – most at risk from unregulated international trade. EPA/BARBARA WALTON
