December 2018 Newsletter
Good Morning All and Happy Christmas to all our loyal readers
It’s been another busy month for the Ride Expeditions team and it brings yet another phenomenally successful year for our tours to an end. We’ve taken riders all over Asia from India to Laos, we’ve launched our all-new and totally awesome Cape Crusader Adventure Bike tour in South Africa, we’ve relocated our operational HQ to Cape Town and company owner Toby got himself not one but two motorcycles – still three behind Julian however! What a great year – but we couldn’t have done any of it without our customers, so it’s a big THANK YOU to every one of you that have ridden with us in 2018.
So, what’s been happening in our world?
AFRICAN ADVENTURES
So, the big news for Ride Expeditions for 2019 are the first of our Cape Crusader tours in the Western Cape of South Africa.
Regular readers will know we ran our first Pioneer tour in October, when we took an intrepid bunch of riders to fully road test the new tour. From fast and sweeping roads through the Cederberg Wilderness to testing dirt tracks in the rugged Swartberg mountain range, the tour delivered dawn to dusk adventure. Epic riding to evening barbecues, staying in luxury tents to caves, getting up close with lions, elephants and giraffes – this tour has got the lot!
Our first customer tours start in February with a second outing in April and more planned for October 2019. A full itinerary can be found here.
This is a truly exceptional trip and one we are extremely proud to be launching. If this sounds like a bit of you – drop us an email to info@rideexpeditions.com with Cape Crusader in the title line. This may be the best ride you’ve ever been on ….
HO CHI MINI?
You spoke and we listened…
We’ve been running our epic Ho Chi Minh tour for a number of years, but with the combination of a massive 2700 km over seventeen days of riding and exploring, it was a big commitment!
So we’ve decided to offer a shorter tour of this incredible route. The new tour will be based entirely in Laos, starting in the riverside resort of Champasak and heading north along the historic route, taking in everything from tiny remote villages and dense forest trails to massive river caves and of course lots of reminders of the incredible back story of the trail.

Over ten days we’ll experience 1700km of epic riding, some stunning hotels and incredible people – Hell, we’ll even camp on the banks of a river drinking cold beers and eating barbecued fish – it doesn’t get much better than this.
Up for a slice of this heaven? Email info info@rideexpeditions.com and put Ho Chi Minh as the subject – we’ll do the rest!
BLOGS Go CRAZY

So, our ever-popular blog page has gone mad with content this month, with record breaking visits to the massed ramblings of Julian’s fevered mind. Top scorer this month has been the report on Honda’s awesome little concept adventure bike, closely followed by a look at a possible 450L Rally bike. Add in the best from Motorcycle Live in the UK, a look at the new KTM 790 Adventure, the new Yamaha Tenere and if the budget won’t stretch that far – a review of some cool knee pads.
Oh and that’s not to forget our grand plan for Christmas …
THE GIFT OF GIVING
With Christmas not far away, you could be struggling to come up with the ideal gift for your partner, friend, brother – you might even want to treat yourself! So, what better than a Ride Expeditions Gift Voucher? You can buy a voucher from £50 or $50 upwards right up to the full price of one of our tours and we’ll send you a voucher for that amount that can be offset against the total tour price. We can even personalise the vouchers with a picture of the lucky rider if that’s what butters your parsnips, just let us know and we’ll get busy with the Photoshop!

To find out more, drop Anna a message at anna@rideexpeditions.com and mention Xmas vouchers
WEEKS IN THE WILDERNESS
Back in sunny South Africa, it’s been back to school for Toby, Anna and new boy Tom. But they’ve not been behind a school desk swotting up algebra and trigonometry – oh no – they’ve been out in the bush advancing their skills as first responders out in the Wilderness. Pick up as much as a paper cut on one of our tours and Toby will have fashioned a sturdy stretcher from banana leaves and vines within just a few moments.

But joking aside, having our staff fully trained for all eventualities out on the tours is just one of the many ways that Ride Expeditions are so much different to other tour companies. We take safety seriously, so having the best training for our tour staff is imperative when we are travelling in remote environments.
OK so that’s all we’ve got for the moment. Have a great Christmas and we look forward to seeing you in the New year.
