It may seem to the untrained eye that all of the team at Ride Expeditions have had their feet up for the past year, but staying still is something company owner Toby has never been very good at. He’s been cracking the whip behind the scenes, ensuring that the office team have had no end of chores to keep them flat out like a lizard drinking.

While it can be agreed that being unable to lead our beloved bike tours & being trapped back at base has rendered some of our team temporarily insane, there have arguably been quite a few developments to come out of this involuntary hiatus.

But first…

Hold onto your helmets, it’s almost time to announce our tour winner! What do you need to do to stand a chance of winning? Absolutely nothing! We will simply select a member of our mailing list at random – so as long as you stay subscribed, it could well be you!

We will use a random name picker website and post a video of the draw on our social media channels. 28th April is the draw date. The Himalayas is the destination. Is there anything not to like here? We don’t think so either.

Now, on with the news…

Much to Toby’s chagrin, tour manager Henk is the lucky one who has been assigned the mammoth task of planning our upcoming route:
CAPE TOWN to VICTORIA FALLS!

After months of discussions, pouring over maps and phoning his entire Southern Africa phone book, Henk has moved onto the next planning stage – the most fun part of our job – the riding! Starting just last Monday, Henk is spending roughly a month on the bike, checking out the best routes to take you on such an epic journey.

We have two itineraries in the pipeline : 16 days & 21 days.

These adventures will take in the joys of South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Pencilled in for May each year, the first will launch in May 2022… if all goes to plan!

We’re registering riders’ interest now so if you’re going off like a frog in a sock & want to be notified when this ride is ready to rock’n’roll simply ping us an email with “FALLS TO THE WALL” as the subject header. We’ve already had a group of six eager past riders put their names down within seconds of the first Instagram story going live – the fact that dates and prices aren’t yet finalised is just semantics!

DIRT ‘n’ SECRETS, it does what it says on the tin. This motorcycle tour of Northern Laos kicks off with a visit to an old CIA airbase – once the busiest runway in the entire World – which is known as ‘the most secret place on Earth’. And you’ve guessed it – we ride on a lot of dirt roads, tracks and trails!

North Laos is a stunningly beautiful place – it’s easy to see why the American soldiers felt they’d arrived in paradise when they were posted here during the Vietnam war. Karst limestone mountains, tribal villages, smiling faces, lush green forests and snaking rivers. Pair this beauty with incredible riding, amazing food, heart warming culture and some of the most welcoming locals in the World, and you have a destination that is indeed a paradise for adventure motorcycling!

The tour debut is set for 7th February 2022 and there are only a few places left – the first spots having been snapped up a group of past riders already! They’re an amazing bunch of people – riding with these guys is almost as much fun as the riding itself! They’re riding this trip back-to-back with our ‘Tumble in the Jungle’ trip in Cambodia – which is just a fantastic idea.
