June 2016 Newsletter

Good morning guys and gals.  We just thought we’d take the chance to update you on what’s happening in our world and hopefully, how you can be part of it.

INDIA CALLING

First off is the very fast apporaching Himalayan Heights trip. As many of you may already know, in both August and September we will be setting off on our epic adventure through the most notorious mountain range on the planet. Armed only with a fleet of Royal Enfields, a trusty mechanic and a tin of travel sweets (OK so maybe a bit more than that!) we are taking a group of our intrepid customers on one of our most life-changingly excellent tours.

For twelve days, Toby will lead the tour as we ride the world’s highest mountain passes, travel through cool pine forests and through almost lunar landscapes as we traverse this stunningly beautiful part of Northern India. From ice cold waterfalls to snow capped mountains, the tour has it all and our customers get to experience all this on the iconic Enfield – can life get any better?

Well yes it can – because we’ve got just a few spare places on the September ride (August is sold out I’m afraid) so you can actually join us. OK we know it’s quite short notice but sometimes you have to just say yes when opportunities come knocking – what else are you doing in September – another dreary month at work when you could be doing this? No contest.

So if you fancy the idea, let Anna know by simply replying to this email. She handles all the complicated paperwork stuff and will have you booked up quicker than you can change a front sprocket (Not sure if you’re ready to book? General questions and queries are always welcome too).

SPEAKING OF ROYAL ENFIELDS

Ride Expeditions is proud to be working with leading British Royal Enfield dealership Watsonian Squire to offer their customers the chance to test the mighty Enfield Classic on the forthcoming tour of the Himalayas.

Watsonian Squire – the same people that have made iconic sidecars since 1912 – were formerly the main importer for Royal Enfield, but now are one of the Indian based firm’s premier dealers in the UK. With thousands of satisfied customers traversing the British countryside every weekend on their beloved Enfields, we thought it only fair to give the riders the chance to experience the bikes in their newly adopted home country.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the riders” says Ride Expeditions Julian Challis. “ Royal Enfield have a loyal and passionate following in the UK and we hope that Watsonian Squire’s customers will, quite literally, get on board!”

THE NEW BOY

Back in the office Ride Expeditions has just had another addition in the form of our new Guide & Marketing man, the lovely Julian. Julian’s been writing and editing for motocross magazines and websites for the past ten years so knows his stuff when it comes to off-road matters. He’s also an active enduro and trail rider, having just returned from three days riding in the French Pyrenees and as we speak is fettling his beloved KTM EXC250 for the forthcoming Welsh 2 Day Enduro. Julian is a very welcome addition to the team and will be hosting some of our South East Asian tours next season so you can see his far from legendary riding skills for yourself.

Aside from handling all the wordy bits for the company, Julian’s been slamming the Social media with all manner of topical, pointless and amusing content, so if you’ve been enjoying the nonsense, it’s his doing. If not, it was Toby. Julian also collects clocks, but we’re not sure how this is relevant. Fire him a PM on Facebook and maybe find out.

BLOGS AND STUFF

If you are a regular to our website you’ll have noticed a flurry of activities on our reviews of kit and bikes. We want our visitors and guests to benefit from our knowledge and experiences of everything off-road, so from now on there are going to be regular posts with a mix of vital information and advice.

From choosing between tubes and mousses to tool bag contents, to reviews of the kit we are using or have managed to blag, we want our blog section to be a bit of a trail ride bible with the stuff you need to know to get the best out of your riding and maybe our tours.

And it’s not just our opinions – if you want to contribute your thoughts or experiences, simply send Julian an email at julian@rideexpeditions.com – he loves that stuff.

HER ROYAL HIGHNESS’ BIRTHDAY WEEK

This week is officially the birthday week for not only HRM the Queen of England, but also our own particular head of state – Anna. While Toby is busy planning tours on the Asian sub-continent and Julian is balancing tapping away on his Apple with bike preparation, Anna is combining an her usual highly efficient administration duties for Ride Expeditions with an extended birthday celebration that looks to running into over seven days. Happy Birthday Anna!

That’s all for now folks – get out on the trails and get dirty.
