For our dirt bike tours in Thailand, we run the Honda CRF300L — a lightweight, reliable trail bike with upgraded suspension, bars, exhaust and guards. It’s a proper workhorse, ideal for the kind of terrain we cover. For future adventure bike tours, we’ll be using the CFMoto 450MT — those are coming soon.
Every one of our motorcycle tours in Thailand include a lead local guide, a WFR-qualified Tour Leader riding sweep, and experienced mechanics. A support vehicle carries luggage, spares, medical kit and a spare bike. We also run GPS tracking, have satellite communications, and access to remote medical cover if needed.
Yes — you’ll need to hold a valid motorcycle licence in your home country for the size of bike you’re riding. Since we don’t run anything under 300cc, that means a full licence, not a provisional or learner permit. This isn’t just about local laws — it’s critical for your travel insurance. If you’re riding illegally, your insurer will almost certainly walk away from any claim. And if you happen to be lying on a hillside in need of a medivac worth tens of thousands of pounds… well, let’s just say it’s not a good time to discover the small print.
The ideal time to ride in northern Thailand is during the cool, dry season — from November to February. March to May can be hot and dusty, while June through October is considered the wet season. That said, June and July can still be excellent times to ride — the downpours are often short-lived and followed by sunshine, and the scenery during this time is especially lush, green and vibrant. We only run tours during the seasons that suit the terrain and deliver a great riding experience.

Yes — an IDP with motorcycle entitlement is strongly recommended and may be required to ride legally in Thailand. Thailand officially recognises both the 1949 and 1968 IDP conventions, but the 1949 version is more commonly accepted by local authorities. Yes — Thailand is generally a very safe and welcoming place to travel by motorcycle, especially in the north where we operate. The biggest risk comes from local road users. Driving styles can be unpredictable, and riders should be prepared for vehicles pulling out without warning or taking unusual lines. On our guided tours, we manage the risks carefully with experienced crew and well thought out routes that avoid busy highways as much as possible — but it’s still important to stay switched on, especially when sharing the road with traffic, cows, buffalo, dogs, chickens, children, and the occasional scooter carrying a family of five and a fridge.
Yes — it’s always worth getting in touch. If you’ve got a group of mates, it’s much easier for us to open a new date or even run a private tour.
