Himalayan Legends – The Ultimate Expedition

20-Day Ladakh Motorcycle tour, a high altitude Himalayan adventure

Our flagship Himalayan motorcycle tour is built for riders who want the full route, not the trimmed version. Over 20 days, you ride high passes, remote roads and huge shifting landscapes, with full support so you can stay focused on the ride. Pangong Tso, Hanle and Umling La are part of the draw, but what really sets this trip apart is how deep it goes into the Indian Himalayas.

Pillion Friendly?
Yes (with difficulty in places)
Pillion riders frequently join these trips. But please be aware, it is very important that the pilot is a highly experienced rider, on both paved and unpaved roads. Our support vehicle should never be far behind, so the pillion rider has the option to hop into the support vehicle for the more challenging sections if needed.
Terrain
30% unpaved
Approximately 70% of this route is paved, and 30% is unpaved. The paved roads can vary in condition, as can the unpaved roads. Some sections of the unpaved roads can be really quite rocky or sandy in places. The conditions in the Himalayas change every single year, so this percentage could be higher or lower for your trip.
Total Distance KM
2510
This is the total riding distance from start to finish. This is not exact, and the actual distance covered may be effected by conditions & road closures etc.
Support
Fully supported and guided
Our local guide will ride at the front of the group. Our tour leader, who is trained as a wilderness first response medic, rides at the back of the group (carrying a medical kit), our mechanic also rides at the back of the group, and we have a support vehicle travelling behind the group. The support vehicle carries all of your main luggage, spare parts, water, snacks and further med kit & stretcher etc. We also bring a spare rider with us too, ready to hop on your bike if you're ill, injured or struggling with the conditions. Back at base, we have a consulting expedition doctor, ready to assist and advise in the case of a medical emergency.
Airport Information
Arrival: Delhi International Airport (DEL) Departure: Bhuntar Airport in Kullu (KUU)
Standard of Accommodation
5 (out of 10)
This is our best effort to provide an average accommodation rating on tour based on various factors and additional amenities. Some accommodation is very nice, and some are rather basic, with limited options. We've hand-picked accommodations that will enhance your experience while on tour - from a selection of hotels to glamping in the mountains - you'll experience a variety of Himalayan stays on this tour.
Difficulty Rating (overall)
6 (out of 10)
This is our best effort to give an average rating for the trip, based on the average rider. This is subjective though, and will vastly depend on your own riding experience and ability. It can also vary depending on the weather conditions during your trip, and other things such as road works, road closures/diversions etc.
Average Daily Ride Hours
5 - 6
Generally, we depart at 9am and aim to arrive at the accommodation by 4pm, stopping for drink/photo stops and lunch along the way. These are not strict times though, and these can vary depending on the conditions at the time, the ability/pace of the group and distance.

Ultimate, leave-no-stone-unturned Himalayan expedition

Tour Overview

This is the big one! Himalayan Legends is our flagship 20-day guided Himalayan motorcycle expedition.

From the greener valleys of Himachal to the high-altitude deserts of Ladakh, it’s a ride of huge passes, remote roads, mixed terrain and proper contrast. You will ride everything from smooth mountain tarmac to rougher, more isolated sections, and stay everywhere from comfortable hotels to simple stops where location matters more than luxury.

This is the most extensive Himalayan expedition we’ve ever put together, and we truly believe it can’t be beaten. It’s a carefully curated itinerary that will both challenge and thrill you, as it takes you into some of the most remote and least travelled corners of the Himalayas. With a guide, mechanic, medic and support vehicle backing the group throughout, you’ll ride the depth of a serious Himalayan trip without the faff of managing it yourself. If you are looking for the best motorcycle tour in the Himalayas for route depth, strong support and unforgettable riding, this is the one.
