The World’s End

15 or 18 Day Adventure Motorcycle Tour of Patagonia

Motorcycling in Patagonia is an adventure in its purest form: forget busy highways with convenient fuel stations, roadside cafes, bustling cities and fast WiFi. Out here, it feels like youโ€™re travelling in the outback - so remote and untouched by civilisation, you will almost feel like youโ€™re the only person on Earth.

Pillion Friendly?
Yes
Pillion riders are very welcome to join these trips, provided the pilot is an experienced and competent motorcyclist. If you are comfortable having a pillion on the back of your bike, even on gravel roads, you will be fine with this one.
Terrain
30% unpaved
Approximately 70% of this route is paved, and 30% is unpaved. Most of the unpaved roads are in good condition if it has not been raining. There are some sections where the road has loose rocks on the surface, and the 73 Malditos is more challenging than the average gravel road.
Total Distance KM
3245 - 4485
This is the total riding distance from start to finish. This is not exact, and the real distance covered may be affected by conditions & road closures etc.
Support
Fully supported and guided
Our tour leader, who is trained as a wilderness first response medic, rides at the front of the group (carrying a medical kit), and we have a support vehicle travelling behind the group. The support vehicle carries all of your main luggage, spare parts, water, snacks and further med kit and stretcher. Back at base, we have a consulting expedition doctor, ready to assist and advise telephonically in the case of a medical emergency. Additionally, we have access to GPS tracking and a satellite phone on this tour. Support is dependent on the size and needs of the tour. This means that each tour could have a different set of support staff.
Airport & Transfers
Arrival: Temuco Araucanรญa Airport (airport code: ZCO) Departure: Presidente Carlos Ibรกรฑez del Campo International Airport (PUQ)
Standard of Accommodation
7 (out of 10)
This is our best effort to provide an average accommodation rating on tour based on various factors and additional amenities. Some accommodation is very nice, and some are rather basic, with limited options. We've hand-picked accommodations that will enhance your experience on this trip. From a selection of hotels and lodges - you'll experience a real taste of Patagonia on this tour.
Difficulty Rating (overall)
7 (out of 10)
This is our best effort to give an average rating for the trip, based on the average rider. This is subjective though, and will vastly depend on your own riding experience and ability. It can also vary depending on the weather conditions during your trip, and other things such as road works, road closures/diversions etc. For those who have less experience riding adventure bikes and technical skills, you might find this more challenging, increasing the difficulty level for you. If you're in any doubt about your riding ability, or if this difficulty rating concerns you, we strongly recommend you arrange a chat with one of our experienced tour leaders.
Average Daily Ride Hours
6 - 8
Generally, we depart early and aim to arrive at the accommodation by 4pm, stopping for drink/photo stops and lunch along the way. These are not strict times though, and these can vary depending on the conditions at the time, the ability/pace of the group and distance.

Tour Overview

Motorcycling in Patagonia is an adventure in its purest form: forget busy highways with convenient fuel stations, roadside cafes, bustling cities and fast WiFi. Out here, it feels like youโ€™re travelling in the outback – so remote and untouched by civilisation you will almost feel like youโ€™re the only person on Earth.

This motorcycle tour of Patagonia is an all-encompassing route designed as a โ€˜once in a lifetimeโ€™ adventure that ticks all the boxes, leaving no stone unturned and sending you home with a feeling of accomplishment, knowing that youโ€™ve just ridden one of the Worldโ€™s greatest motorcycle adventures.

Weโ€™ll travel some of Patagoniaโ€™s most scenic routes including the famous Ruta 40 and Carreterra Austral, stay in traditional hacienda, and experience the gaucho culture. Finish the tour in Punta Arenas or continue the ride to reach Ushuaia, AKA โ€œThe Worldโ€™s End.โ€ Ushuaia is the southernmost city on the planet! And itโ€™s long been the absolute pinnacle of adventure motorcycling destinations.

Along the way, weโ€™ll zig-zag between Chile and Argentina traversing the otherworldly Patagonian landscape, crossing Torres del Paine National Park, seeing the natural marble caves, and the Perito Moreno glacier and tasting the famous Argentinian steak.

Expect the unexpected, and prepare for epic gravel roads, long sweeping tarmac rides, and strong winds. Let the adventure begin!
