Will this strapless, rear access helmet change the market for ever?

H6

Australian helmet manufacturer VOZZ have released images and  video of their ground breaking new helmet.

The new helmet uses a unique rear access method for riders to put it on, and once clipped shut, no straps are needed to secure it in place. According to Managing Director Mark Bryant the new design has been certified for use in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and North America.

The new design not only means it’s incredible quick to put on compared to a conventional design, but thanks to the innovative design, can be removed from the front by emergency crews without any movement to the riders neck following a crash, leaving the riders head cushioned by the rear of the shell and ready for transfer to a back board if required.

With smooth and flowing lines, the VOZZ apparently also has reduced wind noise and lift at high speeds and performs better in an accident thanks to the design that wraps round the entire skull rather than stopping with a flat bottom edge as with conventional designs.

The helmet comes with a clear and a tinted quick release visor and the usual vents to keep your head cool.

At this stage there is no off-road model within the range, and given the snug fit around the chin, it’s difficult to see that the tech would not be a bit too cosy once you are puffing and panting in the rough stuff. But for the road boys and adventure monkeys, this may be the future. And it’s available now.

So what do you reckon? Is this a helmet you’d buy or does the technology seem too untried?
