Quality MX Helmet – Arai VX – PRO3 Edge Review
When it comes to off-roading, protecting your head should be high on your list of priorities. So which is a good quality motocross helmet to buy? We would have to say Arai VX Pro3 Edge.
Arai have long set the standard for quality mx helmets and their Arai VX – Pro3 Edge does not disappoint. It has adjustable forced air intake, removable rubber roost guard and Dry Cool interior which can be removed and washed. The rounded chinbar is designed to prevent digging or snagging during a crash. It comes in blue, green, red and orange. Although it’s a little pricey at $689.95 protecting your head from injury is well worth paying a little more. Take a leaf out Arai’s book, whose motto is ‘Protection above all else’.
Why we love it…
- Ventilation is excellent and airflow is good.
- Helmet is extremely comfy – wear it on a long days riding straight from the box and it will fell great.
- The Dry Cool interior can be removed and washed and is specially designed to improve moisture and heat removal.
- Closeable chinbar vent for dusty or cold conditions.
- Cool looking Edge graphics
- Emergency cheekpad release system to allow easier access to an injured rider.
- Smooth interior with little or no pressure points.
- Meets or exceeds Snell 2010 and DOT. standards
- Lightweight
Drawbacks…
- The price tag! At approximately $600, it is at the top-end of all all motocross helmets.
- If you wear goggles with nose guards they won’t fit.
- Vent covers crack quite easily

Overall a fantastic piece of gear. Confident with their product, Arai also offer a 5 year warranty for defects in materials and workmanship. Obviously the price may not be affordable for everyone but it’s worth the investment if you can afford it!
