June 2017 Newsletter
Good morning one and all. It’s been a while since our last newsletter, but we’ve all been so busy with the continued expansion of the Ride Expeditions portfolio that it’s hard to catch our breath!
MORE RIDES, MORE RECCES AND NOW HORSES?
Our tour numbers and customers for 2017 are at record levels with hordes of riders from all over the world signing up for adventures from the Himalayan Heights to the achingly beautiful trails of Laos and Vietnam. We’ve taken on new staff, lined up new bikes and plans for brand new rides in new countries and regions are in full flow. And it’s all thanks to our loyal riders, so if you’ve already booked with us – thanks for your support, we’ll ensure you have a truly amazing experience.
If you’ve not yet signed up for a tour, then what are you waiting for? We’re all here for a good time, not a long time …
THE HO CH MINH TRAIL IS ON!
We’re delighted to say that we’ve launched a brand new tour for the 2018 season. The Ho Chi min trail stretches from the very North of Vietnam and runs south all the way to what was Saigon – now Ho Chi Min City – in the South. Cutting a swathe through Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, the route passes through some of the most beautiful landscapes on the planet, covering everything from dense jungle and deep valleys lined with rice paddies to the high mountain ridges and sweeping open plains.

Our new route covers a total of 2700km, starting in the bustling metropolis in Phnom Penh and finally reaching Luang Prabang in Laos a full 17 days later. We’ll swim in volcanic lakes, cross rivers on bridges made entirely of bamboo and travel through flooded caves with our bikes at our sides. This is an epic adventure and we’re super-pumped to be able to offer the tour to our customers.
The full details are on the website right here and believe us – this will be very, very special.

TOURS, TRAILS AND TUC-TUCS
While the Ho Chi Minh adventure is not until next year, the calendar for 2017 is packed to the gunwales with tours too. From riding through the foothills of the Himalayas on Royal Enfields to touring Cambodia on Yamaha WR450Fs, we’ve got it covered.

And for the tours in Cambodia we’ve got options to cover all budgets and riders. If you want the fully inclusive experience with every aspect of your trip planned and sorted by our team, then the Ride Expeditions tours are for you. All you have to do is pretty much turn up, grab a tuc-tuc at the airport and we sort everything else from support trucks and accommodation to meals and medical cover.
But if your budget is a bit tighter of you just want a bit more flexibility to your motorcycle tour, you might prefer our Partner tours with Ride Cambodia. These tours allow you to pick the inclusions you want, everything from the type of hotels you stay in to the places you eat – it’s totally up to you.

With tours going on all year round, the first you could sign up for is the Western Dirt Bike Tour which is due to leave on June 28th. So if you fancy it, you need to get a wiggle on!
While the team in Cambodia are hitting the trails, Toby and Anna are ensconced in their Indian Office in the northern Indian town of Manali ahead of the Himalayan Heights tours that start in July. We’ve still got a few spaces left on some of the tours so if riding Enfields under the huge Himalayan sky is on your bucket list – then find out more here
All out tours are listed on the website, so if you can’t quite decide – have a look and take the plunge – time spent on a motorcycle is never wasted!
BECOME A RIDE EXPEDITIONS PIONEER
As part of our on-going expansion plans, we’re going to be researching and riding a brand new route travelling through the stunning Himalayan Spiti Valley. But rather than just keeping this unique and special experience to ourselves, we’re opening up this recce rides to our customers.

And it’s going to be super-cheap too – the price will be just enough to cover the costs and you get to choose what you ride or even drive from Royal Enfields and Triumph Tigers to Toyota 4 x 4s. It won’t have the normal structure and confines of an organised tour – this will be freestyle adventuring and we will be shaping our future tours with the help and feedback from our band of epic pioneers. Find out more on the blog
The ride is coming up really soon – we’re meeting up in Delhi on the 15th of July, so check you diary and then drop an email to info@rideexpeditions.com.
After that the next recce will be a cross-border trip from North India to central Nepal. Toby and Anu have finished nailing the final logistical details and this trip is now scheduled for departure on October 15th of this year – an epic 23 day adventure riding half the entire length of the Himalayan mountain range, from north India all the way across to central Nepal.
This one is NOT for the faint hearted… Some big distances, some long days, possible detours and some very difficult riding terrain in the Upper Mustang Valley. Again, it’s info@rideexpeditions.com for more info.
ALL THIS AND HORSES TOO
OK – so this might seem a bit leftfield for motorcycle riders but bear with us. While Toby and his team of motorcycling elves have been planning bike adventures, Anna has taken time out from her spread sheets and logistics on the bike tours to launch her own tour company as a sister operation to the Ride Expeditions stable – pun intended!
So – fanfare please – we are delighted to introduce to you Horse Trek Holidays. We’ll be offering the same type of epic holidays in epic locations, but this time our customers will be on just one horsepower. Anna and the team have lots of destinations in mind for the future, from Asian to South America – anywhere in fact where there are beautiful horses, beautiful landscapes and miles and miles of trails to explore.
The first adventure will be in Rajasthan in October and we’ll be riding the totally beautiful and elegant Marwari horses – the ones with the curly ears and flowing elegant lines – through the achingly pretty region from Dundlod, up to Mandawa and then heading south towards Nawalgarh and on to Danta.

For the full information and prices go to the website – but hurry – there are only two places left on out maiden tour. There’s also a chance to win a stylish Barbour jacket just by signing up to our mailing list – what’s not to like?
Oh – and if you can give our Instagram and Facebook page a like – that would make Anna very happy!
BLOGS AHOY
And if you fancy a bit of light reading, Julian has been busy with his blogs, covering everything from riding Hondas in Devon, what to wear out on the trails and even to what to do if your buddy gets injured on the trails. It’s all useful stuff so head over there and learn yourself something you didn’t know!

OK that’s all for now – we’ve gor bikes to ride and horses to feed and maps to read …
