Motorcycle Tours in Peru & Bolivia, Coming in 2023!

I first visited Peru and Bolivia in 2007. I mountain biked the infamous ‘death road’, ventured into the salt flats of Salar de Uyuni in a 4×4, floated onto Lake Titicaca and hiked into the Amazon. Peru and Bolivia remain two of my most favourite countries in the World and I can’t believe I’ve not been back there in all these years. I’ve long been dreaming about getting back onto the salt flats, cruising along on two wheels this time, with other bikers either side of me – it’s a beautiful image that I can’t get out of my head! And on KTM 890 Adventures? Well it doesn’t get much sweeter than that.

Having recently purchased a brand new fleet of the KTM 890s in Colombia and will be soon driving them all the way down to Chile for our Patagonia tours, we are now poised to turn the Peru-Bolivia dream into a reality, as we travel back up the South American continent after the Patagonian season! While there are many beautiful places en route, Peru and Bolivia is the logical choice as there are simply so many incredible riding routes and destinations… The Dakar Rally was brought to this region for a reason!

From the vast salt flats of Salar de Uyuni to the dense Amazon rainforest, the witches markets of La Paz to the lost city of Machu Pichu and the floating villages of Lake Titicaca, these countries are as diverse in their landscapes as they are in their people and culture. They’re truly fascinating and beautiful countries to travel across and man are we excited to finally ride a route we’ve long been mapping out in the office!

When???

After our Patagonia season ends in late March 2022, the support vehicles and fleet of KTM 890 Adventures will travel North to Cusco, Peru. From here, we’ll embark on a 4 week adventure around Peru and Bolivia, lopping back to Cusco, riding a route that has so far only been explored using a laptop, the office projector & some good old fashioned maps!

Can you join us?

In short: Yes, we would love to bring some willing adventurers along for the journey! But please be aware that we must be very selective about who joins us on this adventure. We’re expecting the unexpected, we will need to cover some fairly big distances on some of the days and we will not be staying in the usual high standard of accommodation we use on our tours. For these reasons, we can only allow extremely experienced riders with a real sense of adventure to join this recce. Things will not go exactly to plan, wrong turns will be taken, we will be slumming it and everyone in the group will have to get stuck in… The route is already mapped out and the trip will be accompanied by the usual support, but this trip will be nothing like our usual tours! If this sounds like your cup of tea, please drop Anna an email at anna@rideexpeditions.com with the subject ‘Let’s Ride Inca Trails’ – we’d love to hear from you.
